Books related to Jeff Street

For such a small church (nearly always fewer than 100 members), we've sure been written about a lot. Look for these books, or do an online search for "Jeff Street Baptist"...

The Long Run book on the Union Gospel Mission/Jefferson Street
Salty Saints books
Steve P. Holcombe, the Converted Gambler
Travelers on the Journey

Hey Dan

Just thought I would send you a quick note to correct some information. Both Steve Holcombe's Biography and Elliot's book are tied to Jeffersoin Street Baptist Center at 733 E. Jefferson, not Jefferson Street Baptist Community at Liberty. Holcombe, in particular, is interesting in light of his connection with The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. I know Cindy Weber was once the Director at Jefferson Street Baptist Center, but her moving to another organization does not justify or accurately present the connections you have tried to make with Holcombe and Elliot. Thanks for taking time to consider the aformentioned.

Blessings,
Rev. John Ferguson

Hello Brother John,

Yes, indeed, Holcombe and Elliot are tied to Jeff St Center, as are we. We sprang forth from Jeff St Center to form a new church (Jeff St Community) when kicked out of the building by the Southern Baptists.

That we were kicked out, though, does not mean that we weren't there, wouldn't you agree?

It's like the Baptists tracing their roots to the Anabaptists. Baptists today may not be anabaptists, but that is the root from which they spring.

Fair enough?
